Shivapuri Hiking Tour 1 Day Return

Overview

The Shivapuri hiking tour, which takes place in Shivapuri National Park, is one of the most common day hiking tours in the Kathmandu valley. After about a half-hour drive, you arrive at Budhanilakantha, where you begin your hike. Budhanilkantha is a Hindu pilgrimage site with a majestic stone idol of Vishnu, the Hindu god of safety, sleeping in the middle of a pond on a serpent bed.

Spend some time in the area before moving on to the national park's entrance gate. You join the national park's trail and begin hiking uphill. After about two and a half hours of hiking, you'll arrive at Nangi Gumba, a Buddhist monastery. Visit the monastery and take in the southern view of Kathmandu Valley. Continue walking until you reach Sundarijal, where you can end your hike and return to Kathmandu by car.
